FRANCE TO LIFT 100 BHP RESTRICTIONS
No, we haven't discovered an easier way for reluctant Brits to converse with their cross-channel neighbours but news that the authorities over there have decided to lift the 100 bhp restrictions on motorcycle power.
Until now, if a bike engine produced more than 100bhp it had to be fitted with a restrictor kit called, in French, 'Le Retrofit'. It was introduced with a whole raft of new rules when the EU member states reviewed and brought into being the new licensing regulations aimed at increased training and a stepped approach to handling more power.
The new French regs are due to be approved in May; a springtime present for those riders with power-restricted sports machines, or those contemplating buying one.
20/04/16 It didn't reduce the accident rate did it? You can have an accident at any speed with any power motorcycle. My worst injury in 30 years occured at 0mph dropping my bike whilst driving off with the disc lock on, and trying to save it with my leg. I didn't reckon on the brake lever taking the weight on the instep of my right foot. I'll let it go next time.
20/04/16 i did just this aswell. doesnt half stop with a wollop when u hit a disk lock. i saved it with my leg too but survived injury free
20/04/16 The disc lock saga obviously jams the wheel dead and if the bars are turned at all, it has the effect of throwing the bike down to that side so violently by the time you get your foot down, the bike's already at 45 degrees and going down.

20/04/16 About time
21/04/16 Yes Bon voyage......its nothin to do with speed, mainly twats in cars who don't look or know what the wing mirror is for.....Vive la France
21/04/16 Personally I'm not into massive gee gee figures (only because it kind of scares me) but putting a cap on it is dangerous! Glad someone has had some sense
22/04/16 If they made a law where people had to ride a motorcycle & pass test for a year before they was allowed to drive a car ,I believe it would make them better drivers,
