Flitwick motorcycles finalise plans for IOMTT 2013

Race teams are getting ready for the isle of Man TT

It's Spring on Friday (hooray) and the Isle of Man TT is inching ever closer. Riders and teams are getting their houses in order and starting to decide on their hopefully winning formulas for the 2013 season. Bedfordshire rider Olie Linsdell and Team Flitwick Motorcycles have finalised their plans for the upcoming 2013 season and here are their thoughts. Team Flitwick Motorcycles will split their attention equally between the classic racing world and modern classes. 2013 will also see the team supply an additional rider with machinery for the first time since Nigel 'Cap' Davies rode the Flitwick machines at the 1999 and 2000 TT races.

Olie's season will begin with as many MRO and Thundersport GB rounds as are financially possible before the TT, to truly get to grips with the Steve Bond Honda Fireblade. He will also compete in several CRMC classic rounds in preparation for the new Classic TT event, where Olie is confident of top results in every class.

At the TT Olie will again ride the SMV Engineering R6 in the Supersport races, and the Steve Bond / Flitwick Motorcycles Fireblade in the three larger capacity classes. Fans will then see the very different Suzuki V-Strom racer in the lightweight race at the end of the week, where Olie finished as top Suzuki in the 2012 event. Machine development will hopefully see an improvement on the 9th place finish in 2012.

After the TT Olie will continue plying his trade on the short circuits, with a variety of machines including the Fireblade, R6, Paton and a TZ350.

The team will return to the Island towards the end of August for the inaugural Classic TT, where Olie will start as a real favourite on board the Paton that he lapped at a record bettering 111.830mph in 2010 MGP practice.

The 350cc race is a mouth-watering prospect...

The 350cc race is also a mouth-watering prospect with Olie riding Roger Winfields 350 Honda or Aermacchi, depending on pre-event testing. Some ghosts will then finally be laid to rest when he starts the Classic Superbike TT on the FZ750 that has been rebuilt after the 2010 accident at Bishopscourt. Competing in the three classic TT races will also see Linsdell being one of the only riders to compete in every single class he's eligible for on the IOM in 2013.

Olie's former team boss Ian Lougher will join the team at the Classic TT riding the Royal Enfield that Olie was campaigning to a safe second place last year.

Although the plans are in place, the team's actual activities could be significantly reduced in 2013, unless additional financial backing can be found.
