New local service for motorcycle test candidates in eight UK areas

There are new local motorcycle test centres opening for motorcyclists taking module two tests

Two wheels good!

Motorcycle test candidates in eight UK areas will soon be able to take their motorcycle test closer to home without having to travel miles to get to a test centre, as more motorcycle test centres are being opened up around the country.  This is good news for budding motorcyclists and feels like a step in the right direction - something to make life a little easier for motorcyclists.

In with the new

The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) will be offering module two motorcycle tests from another eight driving test centres in areas where there isn’t already a local service.  Here is a list of where the new test centres will be and hopefully this will be such a success that even more will open up in the future:

    Hamilton
    Letchworth
    Rhyl
    Southampton Maybush
    Southport
    Stranraer
These particular locations were chosen after taking all these factors into consideration: feedback from trainers, statistics showing volume of tests, the distance candidates had to travel to get to a test centre and examiner resources.

Making life easier

The move is part of a wider initiative to improve access to the motorcycle test. The DSA is also recruiting more bike examiners and targeting existing resources at areas of high demand.

Best possible service

DSA Chief Executive, Rosemary Thew, said:

"We want to provide the best possible service for all our candidates, and this includes making sure that people can take their test at a convenient location. This will also reduce the distance that candidates have to travel, making it cheaper.

We are always looking at how we can improve the service we offer and we will continue to look at opening more sites where demand and examiner resources allow. We plan to actively recruit and train more motorcycle examiners ready for 2014."

It's nice to have some good news about a positive move to make life better for fledgling motorcyclists.  After all the benefits of more motorcyclists on the roads instead of car drivers are well known - motorcycles cause less traffic congestion, less pollution, are way cheaper to run than cars and are quicker for journeys in town - all that and they are fun as well - it's a win win!
