Harley Sportster - how it's doing (part four)

leaner, meaner and ready to ride!

Have you been wondering how John is getting on with his Harley Sportster? Well, very well indeed actually - here are a few pictures of the story so far and you might think it is not looking hopeful from the first one but you would be wrong. He is particularly excited by the petrol cap  - it's the little things in life...and if you want to catch up with the story up to now, here's a link.

Before and After
All that work on the bike and he hasn't even got his shirt dirty - impressive!

Down down, deeper and down

After the new Hel hose and DP brake pads, he changed the shocks to some new YSS ones and used a progressive fork lowering kit, cutting the spacers to length to lower it two inches. The bike has now been lowered by two and a half inches plus and is now a much firmer ride. He is still in the process of finding the best setting.  The shocks look really cool and are great quality, he is very happy with them.

Oh and selling all the bits he took off paid for the parts he's bought so far - neat!

Since lowering, the bike handles much better and is a much firmer ride - lowering the front has made the most difference -
'it's lovely round bends now.'
Next step - go out and ride it!

Any lessons learned?

Well, buy a manual before taking the electrics apart :0) and be a bit more organised, don't take everything off at once just a bit at a time is fine!

Looking good!
