MAG vehicle phase out survey results

By 2030, the sale of new vehicles with petrol or diesel engines will have been phased out and although motorcycles are not currently included in the legislation. It seems inevitable that they will be, sooner rather than later. So in light of this,
MAG - the Motorcycle Action Group - decided to do a survey to see how people felt about this. The survey went out and garnered 4,805 responses, 1,575 of which were from MAG members, so although it was not a randomised survey of motorcyclists, they were well represented.
So what did they all say? The first question asked, was for people's opinions on the potential phasing out of new petrol motorcycles. The results found that 55% of those who replied were completely opposed to the ban, 36% wanted the ban delayed and only 8% accepted it. It seems that 83% of those who responded to the survey would like to see MAG get involved with other groups who are opposed to the ban of petrol and diesel vehicles.
One of the other questions was aimed at the introduction of electric motorcycles, asking if those surveyed would either - stop riding altogether if they couldn't use a petrol motorcycle, hang on and keep their petrol machine running for as long as they legally could before going over to electric or just swap to electric ahead of time. Well 56% said they would not change to electric until it became impossible not to, 31% said they would give up riding altogether and only 13% said they would just change over to an electric bike before it was absolutely necessary.
So what are your thoughts on this question, do you accept that it is inevitable and are you already window shopping electric bikes or will you hang on to your current machine for just as long as you can. Or perhaps you've had enough of it all and are planning to get a car or a horse?
