News from Alf's motorcycles at the Manx Classic TT
race result - Mick found a pub!
Here is a nice little bit of news from the horses mouth - well from Hazel actually - about how team Alf's got on racing on the isle of Man - thanks very much Hazel sounds as though a good time was had by all.
Running on number 21
Alf, Mick, The Burn and crew were back on the Isle of Man this year, competing in the 90th
Anniversary CLASSIC MGP TT on a 1991, Ducati Corsa 888 - of course re-built,
engineered and tweaked by ´Alf himself ´ Running on No: 21
The bike reached 153.9 mph on the Sulby straight! but then decided to
blow hot water all over Mick´s crotch :( but he was ok! The lads
scratched their heads a few times and as always solutions were in the
making.....
The practice sessions were beneficial for many reasons
and as Mick said at the time, the small problems were not so bad compared to some of the
issues others were experiencing.
'The Alf´s Racing Team' made it to the race following a stressful
evening after the day's practice session held at Jurby during the Festival. The Ducati 888 returned with a knocking sound, thought to be one of the big
ends, and the team were unable to check this out until back at the garage courtesy of the
´Bartons´. There was nothing else to do but get all hands on deck for a precise
dismemberment of the bike and re-build of the donor bike engine and Yes! Six and a half hours later, at approx 00:45 am the morning of Race Day, Monday 26th
August the bike engine roared into life once again!

The awesome four Pit Crew: Alf, Burn, John Brookes, Patrick Banfield all played a role, eventually falling into bed in anticipation of the daylight hours - Race
Day - Bike rebuild - No practice Just straight in.... Go Mickman!
As the morning broke to an overcast day, mist on the mountain was a
concern in case it meant delays to racing. With expectation in the air, everyone
went about their duties. The Staff from Alf´s found a perfect spot on the
outside of the circuit, so they could escape later in the day back to the
airport. The Crew, Mick and friends went off to their respective areas.
The report came though that the Bike had passed scrutineering - Yeah!
The race time put back from 2 pm until 3pm - Pah!
The race starts... -Yay!
Mick got away in 14th place. With great excitement we lent over the Marawn
Church Wall on
the A1 Peel to Crosby road, video & camera´s poised as Haze, Paul, Boyd,
Dez, Gary, Graham, Ollie amazed that not only could we almost touch the road
but the bikes flat out were just feet in front of us. After a few minutes
Mick roared by on the Ducati 888 Corsa..... check out this video link and turn up

We managed to see three laps of Mick´s race. We later heard that at the Kirk
Michael
marker the Ducati lost power and Mick had to retire due to an electrical
fault which
occured half way round on the fourth lap!

Whilst we may not have completed the race, the pride and experienced gained
as always by
participating in this level of racing against the Dunlops, Barton and
McDonalds of this world is no less that second to none.
