Riders on L plates delivering fast food
Should it be illegal?

On any British street you will have seen motorcycle and scooter riders darting about through the traffic making deliveries to people's homes. Currently in the UK, learner riders on L plates are allowed to drive for business and to deliver food, without having a full motorcycle licence.
There are, however, moves afoot to clamp down on this and ban 'learner' riders from working commercially.
At the moment all they need is a CBT which allows them to use a bike with an engine up to 125cc, as long as they display L plates, and with that they are allowed to work on the road. Although this might seem like an anomaly in a country with quite stringent laws surrounding motorcycling, there are actually other anomalous things out there, for instance e bikes, which are allowed to use the roads without a test, regulation or helmets.
People do complain about the way delivery drivers and riders behave on the roads, and this may partly be because there is a lot of stress in the food delivery system as folk want their food at home, and they want it 5 minutes ago, so any riders or drivers are under a lot of pressure to be quick out there on the roads.
